The Black Canyon of the Gunnison is a deep narrow valley with sheer cliffs and a river running through it. The fast, debris-laden water drops an average of 96 feet per mile in the park and drops 480 feet in a two-mile stretch. It has carved and eroded the hard rock into an American National Park.
Climbing on the rocks observing the canyon floor was gratifying for Bill, Luke and Winston. However, this made Alisa quite apprehensive, fearful, and nervous. Hiking down into the gorge with chain ropes was not a unanimous family option. Therefore, we took pleasure in hiking the Oak Flat Trail and all of the several short overlook paths. Afterwards, we had a poker playing picnic as we watched the sun set.
